At the German Engineering Institute of Chongqing College of Mobile Communication, there is a special form of openness called the “Parent Open Day.” It allows parents to step onto campus, enter classrooms, and experience their children’s learning and daily life firsthand. Through this event, parents and the university work together to build a brighter future for students. This is the Parent Open Day & German Study Abroad Consultation Event.

A Platform for Home-School Collaborative Education

  The Parent Open Day & German Study Abroad Consultation Event serves as a platform for home-school collaboration. By creating opportunities for communication and interaction, the Institute helps every student who chooses the Institute of German Engineering develop a clear and well-defined career plan, while enabling parents to better understand their children’s academic progress and campus life.

  Focusing on student development, listening to students’ voices, collecting suggestions from parents, and bringing together family support, the Institute explores a unique model of collaborative education between home and university: Classroom Observation: Parents enter classrooms to witness students’ learning engagement and academic performance firsthand. Campus Tour: Parents visit key learning and living facilities, including Nanhu Academy, laboratories, libraries, and other campus spaces. Study Abroad Consultation: Representatives from German partner universities and study abroad advisors provide professional guidance and answer parents’ questions. Meeting with the Institute Dean: Parents communicate directly with university leaders to discuss student growth and development. Parent Workshops: Educational experiences are shared, and effective approaches to family education are explored together.

  Through the Parent Open Day, the Institute works together with families to carefully guide and nurture students during their critical stage of growth. It encourages parents to participate in important educational activities and institutional development, creating a supportive environment for collaborative education among the university, families, and society, and providing new momentum for students’ growth.
